Pop of Colour
International Packaging & Plan-O-Gram
Pop of Colour is a fictional art supplies brand representing international audiences of both English speakers and Spanish speakers. This project explores the branding and packaging for the following Pop of Colour products: gel pens, crayons, fancy-cut scissors, craft glue, and glitter glue. These 5 products from Pop of Colour’s newest line fit into a plan-o-gram of 15 products in total, alongside 2 competing art supply brands. Most products across all 3 brands are hangable packages, including boxes and a hang card, while Pop of Colour utilizes an entire shelf for its other 2 products. The final plan-o-gram considers vertical shapes varying in size, smaller boxes at the top, a small shelf, a large section at the bottom, a brand sign, and brand proximity.
Pop of Colour uses complementary colors, tones of blue and orange, which create a lasting impression on the audience. The vivid contrasting quality of the orange color packs a contrasting punch and “pops” to the eye, relating the visual to its brand’s title. The typeface Funkydori gives the logo a very fluid, organic look and feel, which complements the organic pattern in the background of all the package designs.
Each package design uniquely advertises the qualities and selling points of each product, being careful to treat all type in either English or Spanish equally. Pop of Colour pops to the eye aesthetically with its reliable art supply products, and among its competition.
